The tragic news comes just a week after The Voice's Christina Grimmie was shot dead by a fan.

A little more than a week after American singer and former contestant from The Voice USA Christina Grimmie was fatally wounded after a performance in Orlando another singer from the popular TV show has been shot dead.

Alejandro Fuentes, a contestant on the Mexican version of The Voice, was shot to death on Thursday last week in Chicago after he’d attended a friend’s birthday celebrations.

The 45-year-old singer, who was on The Voice in 2011, has been living in Chicago for some time where he ran a studio for prospective artists.

According to the Chicago police Alejandro was shot after an armed man had ordered him to get out of his car and he refused. The man shot Alejandro three times in the head. No one has been arrested so far.

It’s also not clear whether the incident was part of a failed hijacking attempt of whether the singer was specifically targeted. Police are still investigating.

Christina (22) was shot on Saturday by a fan while handing out autographs after a show. The fan then turned the gun on himself.
