Artist creates mesmerising images to show the magic of natural hair

Celestial landscapes, dreamy flower crowns and mystical forests – this artist uses special effects to highlight the beauty of natural hair.

Visual artist Pierre Jean-Louis says he sees Mother Nature in black women, which he aims to portray in his Black Girl Magic series.

He wants the series to inspire to all black women to embrace their natural hair, Pierre told Huffington Post.

“I started creating these beautiful pictures last year around September when I started following some amazing accounts on Instagram [which have] nothing but beautiful black queens rocking their natural hair.” Read more: ‘I was happy’: Boy (7) who grew out hair to donate to cancer patients now has stage 4 cancer The New York-based artist says he was amazed to see black women finally accepting themselves for who they are – “Goddesses”.

Drawing inspiration from different women on Instagram, Pierre uses a creative photography app called Enlight to create the ethereal special effects.
