David Beckham is "thrilled" to return to H&M.

The former soccer star has collaborated with the Swedish retailer over the last few years on a range of Bodywear, offering everything from boxers to thermal jumpers.

'He doesn't make H&M clothing look good, he makes it look great'

Now he has moved into modelling its clothing with his Modern Essentials Selected by David Beckham range, for which he chose his favourite pieces from H&M's existing designs. The sportsman smoulders in a selection of items from the line in campaign photos, including a soft blue jumper and a casual black jacket and trouser combo, and he's delighted to be a part of the venture.

“I am thrilled to continue and extend my collaboration with H&M by selecting my favourite pieces from this Spring’s Modern Essentials collection. Each piece is a new wardrobe classic that will update every man’s spring wardrobe with great style," he explained in a statement.

David was shot by World War Z director Marc Forster for the advertisements, which also include a video. It was a teaming which the 39-year-old hunk was extremely excited about, being a fan of the filmmaker's work already.

"Marc Forster is one of my favourite directors – I can’t wait to reveal the new campaign with H&M," David gushed.

In return, Marc has nothing but praise for his subject. David is no stranger to the world of fashion, with his wife being designer Victoria Beckham and having posed for brands such as Belstaff before, so it was an easy job.

"Most of us are familiar with David's innate sense of style and design, however, it was his acute eye for cinematic storytelling that struck me during the filming of this campaign," Marc added. "He doesn't make H&M clothing look good, he makes it look great."

The Modern Essentials Selected by David Beckham range will be available from March 5, coinciding with David's new Bodywear collection.
