Beyoncé Knowles is upset at the backlash she has received from fans after unveiling her vegan nutrition plan, it has been claimed.

The Sweet Dreams singer teased her supporters with news of a "big" announcement last week. But fans were left disappointed when it turned out to be a plug for vegan nutrition plan The 22-Revolution. In uproar, her fans spammed her Instagram account with emojis of burgers and pizza and the backlash has reportedly got to the 33-year-old.

"This latest venture has been a disaster for Beyoncé," an insider told British magazine Closer. "Instead of admiring her new figure, people are criticising her as well as ridiculing her and Jay Z as 'greedy billionaires'."

This isn't the first time the hit maker has followed a vegan diet. In 2013 she lost 65lbs by following her friend and nutritionist Marco Borges' 22-Day Vegan Challenge with husband Jay Z. The mother-of-one resumed the plan again recently, and has been showing off the results in a series of skimpy outfits on her Instagram account.

However she has been labelled a hypocrite by fans after appearing to eat a burger in her latest video Feeling Myself.

During her "big" announcement on Good Morning America last week, Beyoncé spoke about her lifelong battle with her figure.

"I'm not naturally thin, I have curves," she said. "I'm proud of my curves and I have struggled from a young age with diets. Finding something that actually works and keeps the weight off has been difficult for me."
