Reality TV show Big Brother is back in SA for the first time in 12 years! We catch up with host Lungile Radu.

Did you audition for the hosting job or were you approached?

I was approached to do a screen test and they told me they just wanted to see if I would fit. Afterwards they said, "We’re convinced you are who we want".

What are you looking forward to the most on Big Brother?

Controversy! This is an interesting year to hold Big Brother, what with the elections coming around and with the various opinionated people in the house . . . The love triangles and most definitely the shower hour.

Oh would you say shower hour is your particular favourite?

(laughs) I’m not gonna lie. I have watched a couple of times for shower hour.

What do you say to people who think watching big brother is voyeuristic?

Firstly I would say that for them to say that would mean that they’ve watched the show are they voyeuristic? I mean there are different strokes for different folks. Big brother has a huge following so there are enough people who find it interesting and entertaining.

What’s going to be different about this Big Brother?

Firstly the secrets. We are all about the secrets! The contestants are different and they are hungry for this R1 million. They want it, they’ll bring it. And lastly me, I’m different. I bring something new to the show.

Besides Big brother what are you working on now?

I’m currently concentrating on building a production company, trying to produce content to elevate the game, currently in talks with TV stations about projects I can’t talk about right now.

Valentine’s Day is around the corner. What is the most surprising Valentine’s Day gift you’ve ever received?

I’ve never received any surprising Valentines Day gift.

The best one?

Well it's age restricted. . .

You’re a very busy guy, how do you relax?

Chilling on the couch, watching TV, hanging out with friends at their houses or mine or at our local spot.

What keeps you grounded?

Being around positive energy, good people whether it’s family who tell you the truth all the time or friends. Just being around good genuine people.

You uploaded the most stunning pictures of Thailand on Instagram recently. Were you on holiday there? Or work?

I was on holiday; it was actually a trip to celebrate my lady’s birthday.

Find Love!
