Boerewors rolls with chakalaka

You don’t get more South African than this flavour combination! It’s a great idea for those days when you don’t want to spend too much time behind the stove.

Serves 4 Preparation: 5 min Cooking: 10 min

  • 500 g boerewors
  • wholewheat hotdog rolls
  • about 500 ml (2 c) mixed salad leaves
  • 410 g (1 can) chakalaka

1 Slowly cook the boerewors in a saucepan over low heat until golden brown and cooked through. Set aside and keep warm.

2 Halve the rolls lengthways (but don’t cut all the way through) and fill with salad leaves. Cut the sausage into pieces a little longer than the rolls and put into the rolls.

3 Heat the chakalaka and spoon over the boerewors.
