Book: James Patterson - Cross Fire

Detective Alex Cross is forced to put his wedding plans on hold after a sniper starts murdering high-profile politicians and lobbyists. The killer is trained, deadly and vanishes into thin air.

The FBI assigns agent Max Siegel to the investigation and he and Alex battle over jurisdiction. To complicate matters Alex starts receiving calls from his deadliest adversary, Kyle Craig, who is in Washington and intent on eliminating Alex and his family.

Patterson is always at his best in his Alex Cross novels and this, his 17th instalment, is no exception. I was hooked from page one and even though there are a few loose ends,

it proved to be a throughly enjoyable read.  If you haven’t read any of the other Cross novels his latest is a good starting point and can stand on its own.
