Kids – like most adults – eat with their eyes so make their food look special and interesting and you’re bound to get a good reaction. Individual bowls and funny faces or pictures “painted” on it with tomato sauce or their favourite condiment will entice even the pickiest eater.

Children enjoy their own little bowls of food. This dish is ideal for a light supper or breakfast instead of scrambled egg.

Makes 4 small portions

Preparation time: 10 min

Cooking time: 20 min

  • 50 g Cheddar cheese, grated
  • 100 g steamed fish (salmon, snoek or hake), flaked
  • 1 small red sweet pepper, finely chopped
  • 6 extra-large eggs
  • 2 ml salt
  • toast fingers for serving and tomato sauce

Preheat the oven to 200 °C and grease 4 small bowls with non-stick spray or melted butter. Mix the Cheddar cheese, flaked fish and sweet pepper and divide between the prepared bowls. Beat the eggs and salt together and pour over the fish mixture. Use a knife to stir lightly. Bake for 20 minutes or until done.

Serve with toast fingers and tomato sauce.
