The 28-year-old actress announced in August (15) she’s expecting her first child with husband Joe King.
She plays vampire Caroline Forbes in the hit US TV show, with her character recently having embarked on a romantic relationship with Paul Wesley’s alter-ego Stefan Salvatore.
'I’m in the same boat as all of those awaiting what direction they will take'
Following Candice’s pregnancy announcement, fans of The Vampire Diaries have been speculating that the news might be written into a storyline of the show if Caroline falls pregnant with Stefan’s baby.
But Candice was unable to expand on whether there will soon be a baby vampire on the scene.
“We’re only a couple episodes in, so there’s still a whole lot of story to tell,” she told JustJared.com. “As much as I would love to answer questions about those storylines, with extra exciting news, it’s kind of the same as every other season. We don’t know what’s going to happen. So I’m in the same boat as all of those awaiting what direction they will take.”
There is one thing that has already had to change on the set of the TV show, however. Candice admits her wardrobe drastically altered to cope with her growing bump.
“It’s maybe affected the size of the pants I’ve been wearing,” Candice joked.
Candice and Joe, who is a singer in band The Fray, met at the Super Bowl in 2011 and became engaged in May 2013. They tied the knot in October last year in New Orleans, Louisiana. Candice and Joe announced their pregnancy news on Instagram last month by posting a cute picture. “Sometimes a Saturday is best spent painting t-shirts and taking an awesome family photo,” Candice captioned the shot. "Happy Monday everybody! #ThatAintNoBurritoinMyBelly Thank you to our friend @softspiritstrong for coming over and snapping this sweet pic. (sic)”
Posing alongside the couple are Joe’s two daughters Ava and Elise, who can be seen pointing towards the actress’ bump. While the family had wrote the word ‘baby’ in a heart around her tummy, Joe had ‘Superdad’ emblazoned across his chest.
