Just hours after his brother was sentenced to five years behind bars for the culpable homicide killing of Reeva Steenkamp, Carl Pistorius has taken to Twitter to show the world he is still standing firmly by Oscar's side.

"Together in Christ we are STRONG, in Christ there can never be defeat," he captioned this old photo, presumably of himself and Oscar. "#livewitheternityinmind"

Minutes later, he posted, "May God gives you grace so that your salvation might be built up and not broken - regardless of the circumstance.#Hiswordwillnotreturnvoid."

Yesterday, he and sister Aimee said in an interview with ITV and eNCA that they will stand by Oscar no matter what.

The siblings both believe the state’s portrait of the athlete was a “malicious” attempt to shape the public’s perception of a man they say is “bold, brave and [full of] courage.”

“The brother I know is a kind person, generous, sometimes to a fault, where people take advantage of and he’s got a good heart,” Aimee said. “He’s thoughtful, loving, has a great desire to help people less fortunate than himself and just a real sincerity about him that few people would be able to live up to."

This morning the paralympian was sentenced to five years imprisonment for the culpable homicide killing of his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp.

He was also sentenced to three years, suspended for five years, for firing a pistol under a table at Tasha’s restaurant in Johannesburg in January 2013.
