Charlie Sheen's HIV diagnosis has brought him closer to his father.

The former Two and a Half Men star has known he was positive for four years and opened up about his health in November (15). He's now discussed his diagnosis for The Dr. Oz Show, set to air on Tuesday, and in the interview he claims being diagnosed with HIV has improved his relationship with his famous father, actor Martin Sheen.

“I don’t want to say it’s specifically changed our relationship but something happened with he and I. We are such better friends than we’ve ever been,” he told with Dr. Mehmet Oz. “We don’t judge each other. (It’s) nothing but fun when we hang out. We don’t agree on everything, obviously. I mean what son and father do? He’s a special cat. And I’m really lucky to have him.”

Martin spoke publicly shortly after Charlie revealed his diagnosis, and he was clearly proud his son had made the brave decision to tell the world.

Speaking during a press conference in Florida, Martin told reporters, "He (Charlie) had been leading up to this sort of story for several months, and we kept encouraging him to do it... And he kept backing away and backing away because it was like going to his own execution, I guess...

"It was the most difficult thing he'd ever done. And he kind of sealed it when he called (Today show host) Matt Lauer last week and asked if he could go on."

During his interview with Dr. Oz, Charlie also opened up about his failed romantic relationships with Denise Richards and Brooke Mueller. He has two daughters with ex-wife Denise and twin sons with former spouse Brooke. In Charlie's opinion, his addiction issues sabotaged his marriages.

“It didn’t help," he sighed. "I don’t know that I’m cut out for marriage to begin with. I’m 0-for-3. I’m just not good at it. I have amazing children as a result. I don’t regret that for one second... Denise and Brooke, they’re doing the best that they can and they’re both terrific mothers and we don’t always get along.”
