Chilli Con Carne

Serves: 4 – 6

30 ml oil

1 onion, chopped

1 clove garlic, crushed

1 green pepper, seeded and chopped

2-3 chillies, seeded and chopped

5 ml (1 t) chilli powder

5 ml (1 t) ground paprika

2 ml (½ t) freshly chopped oregano

5 ml sugar

400 g can chopped tomatoes

1 tin cannellini beans, drained and rinsed

400 g can red kidney beans, drained and rinsed

salt and freshly ground black pepper

Heat the oil and fry the onion, garlic, pepper and chilli until the onion is soft.

Add spices and sugar, stir in tomatoes and beans and simmer for 15 minutes.

Season well with salt and pepper.

Serve with taco shells or tortillas.
