Chocoholic choc brownies

It’s the weekend! Celebrate with reader Laura Ford’s delightfully decadent chocoholic choc brownies.

Makes 12 large or 24 small squares Preparation time: 15 min Baking time: 25-30 min

  • 160 g butter
  • 200 g plain chocolate
  • 250 ml (1 c) caster sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 125 ml (½ c) cake flour, sifted
  • 125 ml (½ c) cocoa powder, sifted
  • 100 g white chocolate buttons or 100 g white chocolate slab
  • 100 g flaked almonds
  • icing sugar for dusting

1 Preheat the oven to 170 °C. Line a 33 x 21 cm baking tin with baking paper.

2 Melt the butter and the chocolate separately.

3 Whisk together the sugar and eggs and add the chocolate and butter, stirring until well combined.

4 Add the sifted flour and cocoa, white chocolate and nuts.

5 Pour into the baking tin and bake for 25-30 minutes. Allow to cool slightly then cut into squares and dust with icing sugar.
