Zoleka Mandela welcomes a new addition to the Mandela family with the arrival of a baby daughter born this morning.

The Mandela family, known to already be one big family, just got a little bigger after granddaughter of the late Nelson Mandela, Zoleka Mandela gave birth to a baby this morning at Parklane Clinic.

Proud parents, Zoleka Mandela (daughter of Zindzi Mandela) and her boyfriend, Thierry Bashala, welcomed their baby girl, Zanyiwe Zenziwe Bashala, 11.20am this morning.

The arrival of the new baby comes as great news to the family as Zoleka previously suffered heartache when her daughter, Zenani, died in a car crash in 2010 at the age of 11 and a year later, her two-day-old son, Zenawe, died after he was born two month premature. She has one son, 10-year-old Zwelami, from a previous relationship.

After news broke, tweets spread across Twitter sharing words of congratulations to the couple, including the likes of Debora Patta and Zoleka's mother, Zindzi among others.

"I'm excited at the birth of my grand-daughter. Congratulations to Thierry and @ZolekaMandela," tweeted Zindzi.

Zoleka is also a breast cancer survivor who shared her life story in her autobiography, When Hope Whispers. The book includes her personal struggles with sex, drugs and alcohol addiction as well as the loss of her two children.
