Crowd attendance high at Brazil World Cup

Brazil's World Cup attendance is much higher than South Africa's.

With 32 games of the 64-match schedule completed, there is a higher average attendance at the World Cup in Brazil than four years ago in South Africa.

A total of 1,629,227 spectators have watched games at the 12 venues throughout Brazil, giving an average of 50,913 per match.

That is up from the average attendance of 49,670 at the 64 games of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

The best attended World Cup to date was the 1994 edition in the United States, where a total of 3,587,538 people watched the 52 matches - an average of 68,991 per game.
