It’s totally silly but a lot of fun.

Actors JOHN CHO and KAL PENN have kept the stoner comedy genre ticking over with efforts such as Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle (2004) and Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay (2008).

Taking their cue from Cheech & Chong’s buddy act from the ’70s they’ve added a twist: both are Asian American – Korean Harold is a closet yuppie, while Indian Kumar is a diehard stoner. And their movies have better scripts and direction. In this one the buddies have grown apart: Harold is married and holding down a respectable job, while Kumar is still glued to his bong. When Kumar tries to help Harold find a Christmas tree to impress his in-laws, yuletide mayhem ensues.

The craziness reminds you of The Hangover and things get pretty surreal, such as when the action switches to claymation. And watch out for Neil Patrick Harris (How I Met Your Mother) in a great cameo.
