With Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson.

Director: David Yates.

Rating: 4/5

In this penultimate instalment of the blockbuster franchise Harry, Ron and Hermione must leave the safety of Hogwarts and embark on a dangerous mission to destroy the seven horcruxes into which Voldemort has put parts of his soul so he can never be killed.

Having no clear plan of action and being isolated from everyone they love soon takes its toll – and the Death Eaters are closing in.

For fans of JK Rowling’s books it doesn’t get any better than this.

Some newcomers may be left scratching their heads about references to horcruxes and deathly hallows but the script does a good job of explaining it all. The varied setting and quest structure gives the film a freshness both in terms of plot and scenery.

The actors all inhabit their role to perfection and director Yates executes both tender moments and thrilling set pieces with confidence and verve.

Bonus: an entire second disc loaded with featurettes, deleted scenes and more.
