Fantasy adventure.

2011. 127 min.

With Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint.

Director: David Yates.

Rating: 4/5

Harry (Radcliffe), Hermione (Watson) and Ron (Grint) set out to destroy the last horcruxes – objects in which dark wizard Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) has hidden parts of his soul – which lead them back to Hogwarts School where Harry has to confront his nemesis in a final battle.

This gripping adventure is everything fans could want yet streamlined enough so those who haven’t read the books will also have a great time.

Yates directs with style and attention to detail while also giving the actors moments to shine in the many emotional scenes. The central trio embody their characters to perfection, Fiennes is suitably vile and Alan Rickman should be singled out for his subtle turn as Professor Snape.

A satisfying send-off for The Boy Who Lived that will have many fans shedding a tear.

Bonus: additional scenes.
