This wonderfully old-fashioned love letter to the movies is meticulously crafted by esteemed director Martin Scorsese, better known for violent gangster epics such as The Departed.

The Charles Dickens-like plot about an orphan battling callous grown-ups centres on Hugo (ASA BUTTERFIELD), who in 1931 maintains the clocks in a Paris railway station while trying to repair an automaton his father (Jude Law) found in a museum.

When an embittered toy shop owner (Ben Kingsley) catches him stealing mechanical parts, Hugo discovers a connection

between the old man, his father and the birth of cinema.

An enchanting, touching adventure with a great cast that no film buff should miss.
