This heartfelt celebration of the silent film era was the darling of this year’s awards season and it won five Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Actor for JEAN DUJARDIN.

In 1927 George Valentin (Dujardin), Hollywood’s biggest star, meets aspiring actress Peppy Miller (BÉRÉNICE BEJO) and

gives her career a boost. But with the arrival of sound Peppy’s star ascends while George fades into obscurity.

The playful combination of traditional and modern film techniques is visually dazzling.

The lack of dialogue can be alienating at first and the predictable plot gets off to a sluggish start but the charming actors soon draw you in and the end will leave you grinning from ear to ear.
