Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson's operation to repair three hernial tears was a "success".

The actor-and-wrestler had to undergo emergency surgery on Monday to treat a severe abdominal injury sustained during his WWE WrestleMania 29 match against John Cena earlier this month.

Dwayne tore his abdominal and abductor muscles from the bone during the encounter, but the procedure went well and he’s now on the mend.

A message on his Twitter account, accompanied by a photo of himself in his hospital bed wearing a Superman T-shirt, said: "Surgery a success! Dr repaired 3 hernial tears (fun pain). Superman is on the mend... #WeFallWeRise (sic)".

Due to his operation Dwayne (40) had to miss the Los Angeles premiere of his latest film, Pain & Gain, this week.
