Emma Stone has learned to turn off the "mean" voice in her head.

The actress appears to be super confident with roles in flick such as The Help and Easy A. Her most recent venture is in Birdman, which is up for several awards this year and earned Emma a Golden Globe and Oscar nomination.

'I'm still my worst critic and can be very hard on myself'

While she's had great success, the 26-year-old is prone to some self doubt. However, Birdman helped her get over some of her insecurities.

"I'm still not completely level-headed. I'm still my worst critic and can be very hard on myself," she admitted to German magazine Joy.

"But I've learned to just switch off that mean little voice in my head.

"I just think of all the things I've achieved. These days, I'm lucky enough to be in a position where I can pick my roles. I no longer have to accept every part just to pay the rent. And I used to get a lot of rejections."

Emma has plenty of young fans and her relationship with her The Amazing Spider-Man co-star Andrew Garfield has made her half of one of Hollywood's most-loved couples. While fans would love her to be on social media, Emma has so far resisted the urge.

"I have a love-hate relationship with them," she said of social networks such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

"Everyone wants to pretend they're perfect. You post photos and quotes for people you don't even know. Then, if these strangers don't like you, you start to question yourself. Suddenly image means more than character, which is pretty ridiculous."
