Emma Watson’s bright future

Emma Watson was a shy 11-year-old when she appeared on the red carpet to promote the first Harry Potter movie.

Fast-forward a decade and look at her now – at 21 she is being hailed as an icon of her generation, is one of the world’s highest-paid stars and can’t seem to put a foot wrong.

She had everyone at the London premiere of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 spellbound when she arrived in a dazzling tulle Oscar de la Renta gown and proceeded to deliver a speech so eloquent and emotional it reduced Harry Potter author JK Rowling to tears.

While Daniel Radcliffe will perhaps struggle with typecasting, Emma already has a variety of projects coming up that will take her miles away from goody two-shoes Hermione.

She’s just finished filming The Perks of Being a Wallflower in which she plays a university student who indulges in drugs and casual sex and jumps from one bad relationship to the next.

It was with this project that she finally knew she wanted to pursue acting, she says. “I’m excited about the idea of being an actress in a way that I wasn’t so sure of before.”
