Facebook announced its new community standards on Monday.

The new rules will be much stricter when it comes to violence, nudity, hate speech and terror on the social media network.

The new guidelines state Facebook will remove “graphic images shared for sadistic pleasure or to celebrate or glorify violence”.

Nude pictures, with the exception of breastfeeding, art or medical conditions, will be removed.

The new guidelines also require Facebook users to use their “real names” and not pseudonyms.

“These standards are designed to create an environment where people feel motivated and empowered to treat each other with empathy and respect,” Facebook head of global policy management Monika Bickert says.

Users who don’t abide by the guidelines will have their content removed from Facebook and even have their accounts blocked.
