June is Pride Month -- and Facebook has come up with a nifty way to celebrate! The social networking site has launched a rainbow-coloured flag as part of its reaction panel - for a limited time only. The gay-pride flag, which was created by Gilbert Baker back in 1978, can now be used to react to all posts on your Facebook feed – a way to tell the rest of the world that ‘love is love’.

“As Pride celebrations begin around the world, Facebook is proud to support our diverse community, including those that have identified themselves on Facebook as gay, lesbian, bi-sexual, transgender or gender non-conforming,” Alex Schultz, the social media giant’s vice president said in a press release. “In fact, this year, over 12 million people across the globe are part of one of the 76,000 Facebook Groups in support of the LGBTQ community, and more than 1.5 million people plan to participate in one of the more than 7,500 Pride events on Facebook.”

But the new colourful feature doesn’t require a time-consuming and data-nabbing update of the app – all you need to do is ‘like’ the LGBTQ@Facebook page, wait a few minutes (about two to five) and refresh your feed. The flag-reaction should then appear amongst your reaction options.

Facebook has also introduced other pride-themed additions, such as frames for profile pictures and filters.

It's unknown for how long the new feature will remain in the reaction panel but while the brightly-coloured flag does make an appearance! Here’s to sharing the love across all borders!
