She’s the “realest” in the rap game and is taking the world by storm with her No 1 smash hit Fancy!

- Iggy (24) is from the small town of Mullumbimby in Australia. At 14 she started rapping and at 16 she moved to Miami on her own. “I felt like an outsider in my own country, I was in love with hip hop, and America is the birthplace of that, so I figured the closer I was to the music, the happier I’d be. I was right.”

- Her real name is Amethyst Amelia Kelly. Iggy Azalea is a combo of her pet dog’s name and the street where her mom’s house is.

- Thanks to her hits Fancy and Problem she’s the only act since The Beatles to nab the top two spots simultaneously on the US Billboard Hot 100 charts.

- Her fashion icons include Grace Kelly, Gwen Stefani, the Spice Girls and Fran Drescher of the TV series The Nanny. “I’ve seen every episode 100 times. I used to ask my Grandma to make me leopard skin dresses on her sewing machine.’”

- The track she’s most proud of is Work, which tells the story of how she had to scrub floors to save up money to move to the US. “A lot of my friends cried when they heard it. They were like, ‘This is your story’.”

- The music video for Fancy was inspired by the ’90s chick flick Clueless. So what is fancy? Well you’re not fancy, she says, if you take an online course, wear glasses without a prescription, sweatpants with high heels and don’t wear nail polish.

- She’s a huge fan of her Problem collaborator Ariana Grande. “She’s very sassy. I think Ariana has one of the best new voices of my time.”

- The three things she can’t live without: mint leaves, her weave and her cell phone.
