Gender reveal party turns tragic after adult and unborn baby are shot dead

12 July 2017

A party that was meant to be a celebration turned to tragedy when two gunmen opened fire at the guests.

The incident took place at the Cincinnati, Ohio, home of expectant mother Cheyanne White at a gender reveal party for her unborn child.

Cheyanne was shot in the leg and lost the baby because of it. Seven other people were wounded, including three children aged 2, 6 and 8 respectively. One woman was fatally wounded and died on the scene.

Hours before the shooting Cheyanne had revealed the baby’s gender on her Facebook page, but the post has since been removed. The same post also thanked friends and family for helping her celebrate her special event. She was expecting a boy.

But the happiness was short-lived as the shooting incident happened shortly thereafter. Police officers were called to a shooting incident at 11.30 am, police spokesman Jim Love told Fox 19.

“Five adults and three children were watching television in the living room when two suspects with handguns opened fire,” Love said.

The two gunmen fled on foot. Love said they hadn’t been identified or arrested, and he couldn’t say whether the victims had been the intended targets of the shooting or if the target had been someone else.
