George Clooney once acted as Sandra Bullock's wingman and helped her win a boyfriend by joking he'd marry her if the other guy didn't.

The brunette actress and Hollywood hunk have been close pals for decades and have taken their friendship to the big screen in recent years. They starred opposite each other in 2013's sci-fi hit Gravity and George acts as producer on Sandra's new movie Our Brand Is Crisis.

As they promote their latest venture, Sandra has been reflecting on the beginnings of their friendship. "It was just pretty funny... he was drunk," she laughed to Access Hollywood. "I know, shocker – the man owns a tequila company. Anyhow, he was doing Buddy Hackett impressions at a friend of ours' house."

Also there at the time happened to be a friend of George's, who Sandra had the hots for. Luckily the actor stepped in and got the ball rolling between the pair.

"When I came out after I spent time with George, George went to him and said, 'If you don't marry her, I will,'" Sandra continued. "George is not gonna marry anybody except for Amal. He was waiting 30 years to do that. But that was sort of the thing that sort of got him to just hang with me, the boyfriend. So we were together for four years after that, thanks to George."

George tied the knot with British human rights lawyer Amal in September 2014 and his wife joined him on the red carpet of the Our Brand Is Crisis Los Angeles premiere on Monday (26Oct15). The couple looked absolutely smitten as they smooched in front of the cameras.

Sandra meanwhile is loved up with photographer Bryan Randall, who she began dating earlier this year (15). The handsome photographer even accompanied his girlfriend to the wedding of her friends Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux in August
