Gwyneth Paltrow: I've saved dresses for decades

Gwyneth Paltrow has decades worth of fashion memories stored away in her closet.

Although it is common for entertainers to borrow outfits for red carpet events, returning the garments to the designers after the affair is over, the 43-year-old actress breaks this trend by keeping the clothes – something she suspects will delight her 11-year-old daughter Apple sometime in the near future.

'I have every Oscar dress'

“What’s funny is I’ve been saving my gowns and special things since 12 years before she was born, so I have everything,” Gwyneth told PeopleStyle. “I have every Oscar dress.”

Gwyneth made fashion history by wearing a pretty baby pink Ralph Lauren gown to the 1999 Academy Awards, where she took home the Best Actress trophy for her work in Shakespeare in Love.

Gwyneth can imagine Apple wearing this dress when she reaches her senior year in high school, but the idea pains the matriarch a little bit.

“Maybe she’ll wear it to prom and do a Pretty in Pink thing and resew it and cut it up,” she shared, noting the outfit may be too precious for alterations. “I don’t know if I’d let her chop that one up.”

Gwyneth collaborated with elite fashion house Valentino on a capsule collection called Wonder Woman Valentino, which is available for sale on her lifestyle website goop.

The high-end collection offers a diverse range of pieces, including a studded leather jacket selling for $6,950 and a sleeveless tulle mini dress with a $9,900 price tag.

There is a celestial theme evident in the attire, as stars are printed everywhere on the fabric, but even though sidereal influences are apparent in the clothing, Gwyneth's inspiration for the designs are less obvious.

“We have this idea about the modern woman being a wonder woman — so many of us are working and juggling kids and careers and you know running from a meeting to a market to make dinner to get kids from karate practice," she explained. "So I like to see all of us in this day and age as modern wonder women. I was really thrilled with the concept we came up with, and obviously this collection is the heightened version of it.”
