BANANA SAUCE
25 g butter
10 ml (2 T) olive oil
15 ml (1 T) mild curry powder
25 ml (5 t) flour
2 onions, coarsely chopped
30 ml (2 T) white wine vinegar
150 ml meat stock
5 ml (1 t) salt
25 ml (5 t) smooth apricot jam
15 ml (1 T) soft brown sugar
4 bananas, sliced
HAMBURGERS 4 bread rolls 500 ml (2 c) lettuce leaves 4 braaied beef patties
- Banana sauce Heat the butter and oil in a cast-iron pot over hot coals. Stir-fry the curry powder for about 1 minute. Add the flour and stir-fry for about 2 minutes. Add the onions and fry until golden brown.
- Add the white wine vinegar, meat stock, salt, apricot jam, brown sugar and bananas, and stir until the sugar has dissolved. Bring to the boil and simmer for about 5 minutes.
- 3 Hamburgers Cut open the rolls and arrange the lettuce on the bottom half of each. Add the beef patties and spoon the sauce over. Top with the other halves of the rolls.
