Harrison Ford and his wife are often "in their own world together", according to an insider.

The 72-year-old actor wed actress Calista Flockhart (50) in 2010 after more than eight years of dating and they are parents to adopted son Liam, who joins Harrison's four biological kids from his previous spouses.

Earlier this month the Indiana Jones star was rushed to hospital following a plane crash, where Calista visited frequently to aid her husband's recovery.

'Harrison and Calista are all about family life'

"Calista spent most of the weekend by Harrison's side. She arrived early every morning and returned home late every night. She was under stress," a source close to the pair told People.

"Harrison and Calista are all about family life. Their life before and after they got married is focused on Liam.

"They are very playful with each other, and they often seem to operate a bit in their own world together."

Luckily Harrison didn't suffer from any life-threatening injuries and while few details have been released, his son Ben - from his marriage to Mary Marquardt - has confirmed that his dad is doing OK.

Harrison and Calista share a love of flying, which the source believes made the whole ordeal even more "terrifying".

Harrison has spoken in the past about sharing the hobby with his wife.

"Calista loves to fly, and I'm thrilled because it's so important to me and it's the kind of thing that's so much more fun with somebody who really enjoys it," he previously told the publication.

"Calista likes the process, she likes what she sees from the air, she likes seeing me happy. I think a lot of it has to do with that she loves to see me doing something that I love."

Calista previously revealed she feels totally comfortable with Harrison in the pilot's seat as her nerves quickly vanished once she went flying with him for the first time.
