Heartbreaking news for Steve Carell

Comedian Steve Carell is mourning the death of his beloved mum following her death on the eve of Mother's Day. As families across the US celebrated the annual holiday, the Foxcatcher star took to Twitter to honour former nurse Harriet, revealing the 90-year-old passed away on Saturday. "Harriet Theresa Carell October 15, 1925- May 7, 2016," the 53-year-old wrote. "Love You Mom".

The sombre message came amid a flurry of posts from fellow celebrities as they marked the special day on social media. Supermodel-turned-TV personality Tyra Banks spent her first Mother's Day with son York, who she and boyfriend Erik Asla welcomed via surrogate in January, and her mum Carolyn.
She shared a photo of the trio on Twitter and captioned it, "My first #MothersDay! Crazy amazing! My mama and I send love and hugs to all the hard workin' mamas in the world." It was also a particularly poignant day for her former FABLife talk show co-host and fellow new mum Chrissy Teigen, whose husband, singer John Legend, heaped praise on the beauty as he showed off a new picture of their daughter Luna on Instagram.
"To my wonderful wife, @chrissyteigen," he began. "Luna and I are so lucky to have you in our lives. If our daughter can be even half as awesome as you, I will be so happy and proud. Happy 1st Mother's Day!" Former Spice Girls singer Melanie Brown had an emotional start to the day on Sunday, too: "Does anyone else always cry on Morhersday (sic)," she asked her followers. "I do,feel very blessed to 3 amazing daughter in my life they are my everything forever (sic)".
