Martin van Breda, his wife Teresa and son Rudi (22), were murdered with an axe in an attack at the De Zalze Golf Estate in Stellenbosch in 2015.

The other children, Henri and his younger sister Marli, were the only survivors. They were 20 and 16 respectively when the attack took place.
