Kim Kardashian admits she had “no idea what was going on” watching sports as a child.

The stunning star has grabbed headlines for starring in a T-Mobile commercial airing during the Super Bowl this Sunday, the American football season championship game.

It’s become a US tradition to gear up for special TV adverts airing only during the Super Bowl, with some people tuning into the sporting event just to watch the commercials.

And Kim recalls what it was like during Super Bowl Sunday when she was a little girl and couldn’t really understand what all the fuss was about.

“I remember as a kid we would watch the game but have really no idea what was going on and then everyone would be silent during the commercials to see exactly like who was in, what was going on, how funny they were," Kim told ET Online. "So the commercials are such a big deal during the Super Bowl and I'm just so proud to be a part of it."

The 34-year-old’s Super Bowl advert sees her poking fun at herself taking selfies.

She has recently spoken to ET about what a blast it was to make herself the centre of a joke.

"I think you have to have a sense of humour,” she said. “The commercial is so funny and I think for once, you know, you see I'm kind of poking fun at the idea of the ridiculousness of everyone and their selfies. I love it. I'm a big fan of selfies. I've taken them for decades."

Super Bowl XLIX airs this Sunday and features a halftime show starring Katy Perry.
