Instagram fitness star killed in freak whipped cream dispenser accident

A French fitness blogger has died after a whipped cream dispenser exploded in her chest.

Rebecca Burger suffered a heart attack after the dispenser "exploded and struck Rebecca's chest, causing her death", her loved ones announced on her Instagram page. The 33-year-old, a popular French fitness and travel figure, has some 200 000 followers on the picture-sharing platform. French media report she had died of cardiac arrest, despite medical attention.
"We are sorry to announce the sad news of losing this beautiful soul," her family said in the heartrending statement. "Our French athlete Rebecca Burger passed away. "We will always be proud of you Rebecca." Her family shared an image of a broken dispenser on her page with the caption, "This is an example of the cream siphon which exploded and hit Rebecca's thorax, causing her death." "The siphon which caused her death was sealed. Don't use this product in your homes! Tens of thousands of the faulty devices are already in circulation."

Whipped cream dispensers work by injecting gas into a metal container, keeping the entire dispenser under high pressure, BBC reports.

According to the news site, a French consumer group has warned readers for years the dangers of dispensers with faulty capsules, which, when they exploded, have resulted in injuries from "broken teeth and tinnitus to multiple fractures and, in one case, the loss of an eye."
