It’s a nightmare that won’t come to an end. Just when it seemed soapie star Arno Marais’ life was back on track, after the horror smash that almost claimed his life, comes the news that he’s being prosecuted on a charge of culpable homicide.

Arno (27), who plays bad boy Benjamin le Roux in Isidingo, isn’t the only one affected by this tragedy.

For the family of 19-year-old Kobus Venter (Photo), who died in the accident, the emotional scars have barely begun to heal.

Two years have passed since the fateful night of the accident in Centurion, Gauteng. The actor spent six weeks in hospital and was able to return to the Isidingo set only seven months later.

Now he’s been summoned to appear in the Pretoria magistrate’s court early in September in connection with Kobus’ death. It’s alleged he ran a red light, resulting in the fatal collision.

The summons ends two years of uncertainty about the direction the investigation would take. But it has also opened old wounds.

YOU’s Herman Scholtz talked to the families of the crash victim and one of the survivors. Read more in YOU 16 August 2012.
