Isidingo’s wicked woman returns

THERE’S something different about her these days – she’s older, has more curves and seems more serene. But don’t be fooled – she’s as venomous as ever and won’t hesitate to destroy anyone standing in her way, as her recent scheming has shown.

Isidingo fans are delighted the character they most love to hate has returned after an absence of almost three years.

Happiest of all that Cherel de Villiers is back is Michelle Botes, who plays the queen of mean.

“Cherel feels like home to me,” the 49-year-old star says. “It’s great to be back.”

Although Michelle had held the part for eight years in 2008 when she left, she says stepping back into her character’s high heels took a while. For starters she had to make the switch from her recent role in M-Net soap Binneland Sub Judice. In that she was nononsense legal eagle Ingrid, a character vastly different from murderous Cherel.

Then there’s the fact she gained 11 kg after recently quitting smoking. It was do-gooder Ingrid who got her to finally quit, the veteran actress says.
