Italian-style beef olives (stuffed steak rolls)

A dish that will make you say "Mama Mia" as passionately as only Italians can be

Serves 4

Preparation time: 15 min

Cooking time: 15 min 

700 g tenderised beef steak

200 g pork mince, divided into 4

60 ml (¼ c) raisins, divided into 4

100 g baby spinach, divided into 4

16 anchovy fillets (4 per roll)

2 eggs, boiled and sliced

salt and pepper

olive oil

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 °C.
  2. Flatten the steaks a little by pounding them with the heel of your hand.
  3. Onto each steak layer the pork mince, raisins, spinach, anchovies and egg slices.
  4. Roll up each steak, secure with toothpicks and transfer to an ovenproof dish. Season with salt and pepper and drizzle with olive oil. Bake in the oven for about 15 minutes for well done. Serve with a salad.
