Junior rowers practicing off the coast of Dorset in the UK got some stiff competition from a school of dolphins who came racing by.

Bridport Gig Club juniors took to the waters off the coast of West Bay in Dorset when they were handed suddenly joined by a few competitive dolphins. A small pod of bottlenose dolphins began racing alongside the boat while the youngsters trained.

Bottlenose dolphins are a common sight in the region but their participation still caught the young rowers by surprise.

According to Bridport Gig Club communications officer, Mike Jones: "The response we have had from the video has been amazing…It's been a huge reaction and it's a great video with the sun shining and the dolphins leaping out of the water - it's a great advert for the area.

MARINElife, a charity organization based in Bridport, has used the video to help raise awareness for their studies into dolphin numbers and patterns in the area.
