A rip-roaring event marked the official opening of the Day of the Dinosaur exhibition in Sandton last night. Here's a sneak peek at the exhibition

It’s a whole new world once you’ve step into the Sandton Convention Centre.

Parents brought their children of all ages to the official media launch of The Days Of The Dinosaur exhibition last night and the kids were beyond excited. It's the first exhibition of it’s kind in South Africa and tickets sales have been very impressive so far -- South Africa has sold more tickets than any other country playing host to Days of the Dinosaur in the past.

Long extinct creatures were brought to life with visual and sound effects -- life-like volcanoes bellowing smoke were a hit with little ones. The dinos themselves, though were hard to beat. They actually move their heads and their necks as you walk by!

Kids also got the chance to take photos while they sitting on a dinosaur and many looked quite happy to be sitting on one of history’s largest creatures. “My son Thandolwethu loves dinosaurs and he is having fun here,” said Former Miss South Africa Thuli Sithole who brought her family to the exhibition.

Just hatched! The kids loved having their photos taken in the dino eggs.

Check out those teeth!

She's gonna blow! There are some seriously cool effects to look out for.
