Jane Fonda wonders if she made a mistake having such a busy career.

The 77-year-old actress found success as a fitness guru as well as an actress.

But Jane, who took a 15-year break from films after starring in 1990 movie Stanley & Iris, says she often wonders if she had too many fingers in too many pies.

'Would it have been better if I had focused more?'

"As I look back over my life, which I do a lot, I sometimes wonder if it was a mistake that I had so many other things besides acting," Jane told DuJour magazine. "Would it have been better if I had focused more?"

However, the actress feels as though as she has come into her own as she has aged. And now she is nearing 80, Jane insists she has never been happier.

"I have a strong belief that older people have a greater sense of well being," Jane said. "Older women in particular, it's like, 'What the hell do we have to lose?'"

However, Jane also revealed to the publication that as she ages, she does think about the temporary nature of life.

The star, who has two biological children and one unofficially adopted daughter, added she frequently ponders just what kind of legacy she’ll have when she’s long gone.

"We all wonder what, if anything, we're going to leave behind,” Jane said. “My ability to understand what my life means—to put it in a way that can be meaningful to other people—that's the gift I would leave behind. It's the strangeness of my life that is the most important thing about me, more than any particular part of my work.”
