Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson's four-day wedding extravaganza allegedly cost a whopping $1.4 million.

Jessica Simpson's wedding reportedly cost $1.4 million (R 14 971 756.11) .

The singer tied the knot with Eric Johnson in a lavish four-day event at the San Ysidro Ranch in California over the weekend, which set them back about $300,000 (R3 209 160.87)  on food alone, according to E! News.

The catering bill - which excludes the price of alcohol - was so big because chefs rustled up several gourmet meals for the couple's 275 guests over the course of 96 hours, including a rehearsal dinner on Thursday evening  and a barbecue to celebrate Independence Day on July 4, as well as the wedding breakfast and farewell brunch.

Booking up the hotel's restaurants for privacy reasons will have set them back another small fortune, as well as booking hotel rooms for their guests, which would have amounted to at least $150,000 (R 1 604 653.74).

Reserving the garden space alone for the long-awaited nuptials apparently cost $30,000 (R 320 957.53).

An estimated $150,000  (R 1 604 653.74) was spent on flower arrangements, while 33-year-old Jessica's stunning Carolina Herrera gown is thought to have cost $30,000 (R 320 957.53), with a massive $750,000 (R 8 023 707.49) going on the blushing bride's jewellery.

The website claims that extra costs including wedding outfits, a styling team, personal security and staff fees will have taken the total up to $1.4 million ( (R 14 971 756.11).

Jessica and Eric's two children, 12-month-old son Ace - who was the ring bearer - and their daughter Maxwell (2) who acted as the flower girl, played their parts perfectly on the big day, but the These Boots Are Made For Walkin star reportedly became tongue-tied and messed up her wedding vows, as did her new husband.
