After her spectacular victory in the Wimbledon woman’s final Serena Williams was the victim of some mean body-shaming on Twitter.

Lucky for her the tennis champion she had some power in her corner -- Harry Potter author JK Rowling.

In an incredible performance on Saturday, Serena became the oldest ever Wimbledon champion and also moved one step closer to achieving a calendar Grand Slam, holding the titles for the world's four major tournaments in one year.

One of her biggest fans, JK Rowling, could not contain her excitement at Serena’s success. “I’m #TeamSerena today, because you don’t meet many super-talented people nicer than she is,” the writer tweeted ahead of the Wimbledon final, posting a photo of her and the tennis pro.

After Serena beat Garbine Muguzara to take the top honours, JK Rowling tweeted:  “#SerenaSlam! I love her. What an athlete, what a role model, what a woman!” to which a Twitter user replied “ironic then that main reason for her success is that she is built like a man.”

JK Rowling called the offending Twitter troll out by name to the delight of her almost 5 million followers. “@diegtristan8 ‘she is built like a man.’ Yeah, my husband looks just like this in a dress. You’re an idiot,” was her response along with a picture of Serena in a fitted red dress and high heels.

Fresh from her victory the 33-year-old six-time Wimbledon winner looked beautiful as she arrived at the Wimbledon champions’ dinner in London yesterday. As if in response to the body-shaming debacle Serena wore an ultra-feminine peach-colored gown to the event.

She then went on to wow attendees with her dance moves as her and men’s winner Novak Djokovic took to the stage. A video shows the two tennis champions in celebratory mode, getting down to the Beegees hit, Night Fever.
