Jennifer Lopez views giving love to others as “the greatest joy” of her life.

The 45-year-old superstar is mother to seven-year-old fraternal twins Max and Emme, who she shares with ex-husband Marc Anthony.

And when asked about what one thing cheers her up during an interview with Radio Disney, Jennifer noted being with her children constantly lifts spirits.

'The joy is in that I get to love them as much as I want to'

“My babies. I realise that when it comes to love, they don’t have to love you back,” she explained. “The joy is in that I get to love them as much as I want to. I know they love me back, but that’s what I realised I look forward to, why I want to be with them, because I get to give to them. It’s a great feeling to give; being able to do that with them is the greatest joy of my life.”

Jennifer is currently promoting her new animated family picture, Home, which centres on a space alien who finds friendship in an unlikely Earthling.

The star voices character Lucy in the picture, a mother who is in a fraught state over the whereabouts of her child.

“She and her little daughter get separated. It’s like me and my daughter got separated all of the sudden,” Jennifer said of why voicing persona Lucy was such a challenge. “It was a very emotional character for an animated film; every scene of mine was so emotional. Everyone else is coming in and getting to be funny, I’m coming in there having to cry!”

Jennifer also sings a tune on Home’s soundtrack called, Feel the Light. Home, which also features the voices of Rihanna and Steve Martin, reaches US theatres on March 27.
