Jennifer Lopez has revealed how her latest role will focus on an “internal struggle”.

The 45-year-old will make her return to TV in Shades of Blue, and she will also serve as an executive producer. The NBC series isn’t set to air until next year but the Jenny from the Block singer gave fans a teaser of what to expect on Instagram on Tuesday. “When you are a cop you know that certain things are wrong, but in certain situations, doing the wrong thing is the right thing,” she said in a teaser video. “It’s about that internal struggle that every single person has.”

Jennifer will star as Detective Harlee Santos, described by the network as a single mother who “fell in with a tight-knit group of dirty cops.” She is later trapped by the FBI into informing on her 'brothers' and will “have to walk the fine line between love, loyalty, honour and betrayal.”

Shades of Blue will bring the star back full circle, as she got her first break in showbiz on the small screen as a Fly Girl dancer In Living Color from 1991. She subsequently had regular roles on 1993’s Second Chances and 1994’s Hotel Malibu before her movie and music careers took off. The cop series will also star Goodfellas actor Ray Liotta. In another video clip, the 60-year-old spoke about his character Lieutenant Bill Wozniak. “[He’s] not black and white, there’s a lot of grey areas,” he said. “You’ve got to be a little bit of everything I think being a cop, I don’t do bad things I just get the bad guys.”
