Johnny Depp has renamed his and ex Vanessa Paradis’ yacht as a wedding gift for Amber Heard, it has been claimed

Johnny (51) and Amber (28) tied the knot in Los Angeles on Tuesday, and will celebrate their nuptials with a larger ceremony this weekend.

And in celebration of their newlywed status, Johnny is said to have decided to wipe the slate clean following his split from long-term partner Vanessa.

'Marriage is really from soul to soul'

Johnny and Vanessa previously named their $32.7million (R433,942,080) super yacht Vajoliroja – a combination of their two monikers and the names of their children Lily Rose and Jack.

However, according to reports, Johnny pledged his love to Amber by renaming the vessel Amphitrite, after the Greek goddess of the sea.

Johnny and Vanessa split in 2012 after 14 years together.

He previously explained that he never felt the need to marry Vanessa, because he didn't think it would have much effect on their relationship.

"I never found myself needing that piece of paper," he said in 2010. "Marriage is really from soul to soul, heart to heart. You don't need somebody to say, OK you're married.

"If Vanessa wanted to get hitched, why not. But the thing is, I'd be so scared of ruining her last name. She's got such a good last name."

Johnny has been with Amber since late 2012, after meeting on the set of The Rum Diary. He popped the question the following year and has been rocking an engagement ring ever since.

Johnny and Amber will mark their nuptials in style with a bigger, more extravagant occasion on Johnny’s private Bahamian island – Little Hall’s Pond Cay.

However, the day will still be intimate, with just 50 guests attending, according to Page Six.
