Jonas Brothers call it quits

It’s all over for the Jonas Brothers. The pop group, who shot to fame in the late 2000s, have officially broken up just three weeks after calling off their US tour citing a “deep rift in the band”.

“There was a big disagreement over their music direction” their spokesperson said at the time.

Kevin (25), the oldest member of the group who’s wife, Danielle, is expecting their first child, confirmed the news while Nick (21) told US People magazine that “it’s hard to say forever - we’re closing a chapter for sure”. Apparently the decision came after Nick had a meeting with his brothers where he told them he “felt trapped”.

It’s been a tumultuous few weeks with rumours abounding that Joe (24) is battling a secret drug problem – something the star has yet to comment on. The group rocketed to teen pop stardom in 2006 with their debut album, It’s About Time. Their last studio album was 2009’s chart-topping Lines, Vines and Trying Times before they announced they were taking a break to follow solo projects. The band reunited last year for a once-off show at Radio City Music Hall and they released two songs, Pom Poms and First Time for a potential new album however that release looks unlikely now.
