Josh Hutcherson finds his long-distance romance hard but is determined to make it work.

The actor has confirmed he is dating his Escobar: Paradise Lost co-star Claudia Traisac, with the pair meeting while shooting the movie. They put on a romantic display at its Los Angeles premiere last night, with Josh taking the opportunity to open up about their relationship.

"It's pretty good," he told E! News. "Distance is hard, but we make it work."

Claudia added that she is feeling "really happy" with the "great" romance. The pair certainly looked like a couple in love, laughing and joking as they posed for pictures at the event.

Josh portrays Nick, who falls in love with Maria while on holiday in Columbia from California. Her uncle, played by Benicio Del Toro, isn't so happy about the blossoming romance, leaving Nick in a sticky situation.

In one scene he had to shout at a boy as part of the script, which Josh found hugely challenging.

"It's intense," he explained. "I don't yell at people. I'm not a yeller. I'm very much a pacifist. For me, to be yelling is very uncharted territory."

Less worrying was a scene involving a huge gun which Josh has to manhandle. It was great fun, with the 22-year-old star joking that it made him feel like a total "badass" for a few minutes.

Benicio also had fun on set, especially in one surprising scene. His character Pablo Escobar shows off his vocal cords when singing a ballad, and the star was only too happy to let rip himself.

"That was my singing, that was my voice," he explained proudly. "I was nervous. Very nervous."
