A judge has reportedly ruled in favour of Chris Brown in the ongoing custody battle over his daughter Royalty with ex-girlfriend Nia Guzman.

Editors at TMZ.com reported that Nia asked the court on Friday for full custody of their daughter, for Chris to have monitored visitation, and wanted the singer's mother banned from seeing the toddler.

She also wanted Chris to submit regular drug tests.

The judge overseeing the case denied every one of Nia's requests, and ordered her to pay back the Beautiful People hitmaker for the legal fees he was previously ordered to cover.

When Nia previously filed the legal documents asking for a change in custody arrangements, the judge ordered Chris to pay her $20,000 (R268 655) so she could afford a lawyer. Now, Nia has to pay him the money back, after the judge ruled she wasn't entitled to it.

The previous custody arrangement between the former couple still stands - Chris gets his daughter Royalty for 12 days a month.

The Loyal singer and his former lover reached a settlement in September, 2015 which entitled Chris to joint custody and 12 days of unmonitored contact with Royalty a month.

However, Nia continued to push for the amount of days to be reduced and for the visits to be supervised, as she believed Chris is unfit to look after their child on his own.

Nia was also pursuing more child support. Chris currently pays for all of Royalty's nannies, education and health bills and $2,500 (R33 581) a month in child support. She wants the monthly payments to be increased to almost $16,000 (R214 814) a month, according to the website.
