Julianne Moore partied until 5am after winning her Oscar.

The 54-year-old actress was triumphant at the 87th Academy Awards on Sunday night, scooping the best actress gong for her performance in drama Still Alice.

Once the ceremony ended, Julianne joined a host of fellow A-listers at the after-parties. Making the most of her successful evening, she stayed out in Los Angeles until as late as possible.

'We stayed out until 5am in the morning that night'

"We stayed out until 5am in the morning that night, I flew back to New York City at around 8am so I didn't get any sleep," she laughed to The Kyle and Jackie O Show on Kiis FM. "I was pretty delirious that night."

And it was a double whammy for the star that evening, as she attended the Governors Ball and the Vanity Fair Oscar Party with husband Bart Freundlich.

Julianne has also taken home a Golden Globe, BAFTA and SAG prize from this year's ceremonies. The film has gone done a storm with critics and fans, but she admits the pay cheque for independent films like Still Alice aren't impressive.

"You tend to lose money on those little movies," she added. "They are made for very, very little... you don't even expect to be able to cover your expenses with a movie like that.

"You just do it because you love it."

Luckily she has other roles, such as President Alma Coin in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 and 2, to even things out and help her earn a living from her talents.

Julianne also addressed Patricia Arquette's best supporting actress speech on Sunday, which shared her views on gender pay inequality in the film industry.

"Obviously it's still not happening," Julianne sighed about equality. "For me personally, it's difficult to complain because I have a fantastic job and I'm making a very good living off doing it. But I think there are definitely situations where people feel they are not valued as much."
